Adventure Programs for Schools (1-5 days duration)

One of our specialties at KMAC is to combine custom course elements with an experiential educational curriculum for public and private schools at all grade levels.  Combining hands-on adventure with thoughtful group processing, these programs develop self-esteem, self-confidence and evaluative skills in young people.  Educators often call on us to create alternative learning experiences for their students.  Many of our one-day classes can be taught at your school or a local park. There's no need for travel.

One day Courses
We offer one-day courses in the following:

Rock Climbing and Rappelling, Orienteering
with map and compass, hiking, peak ascents.

Rock Climbing and Rappelling
We use many different sites for this all day activity along the Front Range and in Estes Park.  Rock climbing and rappelling offer a challenging, exciting and fun experience for students. It is an exceptional team building activity where it is imperative that students focus and trust each other. Learn more

Orienteering (Map and Compass)
This activity is an all day event. It begins with a map and compass lesson where participants will gain a working knowledge of map and compass skills.  The group is then given their “mission” on what they are about to do.  Learn more

Snow School
This all day activity takes place high in the mountains. Instruction will include snow climbing techniques; ascending and descending slopes, self-arrest techniques, beginner glissading, use of an ice axe, ropes climbing and basic snow safety. Learn more

Peak Ascents
An early start begins this day in order to summit a 13,000 ft peak. Topics covered throughout the day include mountain weather forecasting, proper clothing, food and hydration, environmental awareness, pacing and group cooperation. This is altogether a fun, energizing, and exhilarating experience in the Rocky Mountains. Learn more

Multi-Day Courses
Another option is a three, four, or five-day mini expedition, with a range of elements that can include hiking, map and compass, "no-trace" camping, shelter building, rock climbing, a peak ascent, group process meetings, leadership training, journal writing -- even astronomy. Individual participant reports can be provided upon your request.   This is a great alternative to other outdoor educational yearly trips. Learn more

Pricing
The cost is based on what activities are chosen, how many days, number of participants, location of course, transportation, scholarship availability, and any provisions you care to make. Please contact us for a price quote.
